Do It All Again

Words & Music by Gordon Douglas © 2008

On a dark and stormy day

Sent five boys for the mail

Left two mates on the shore

Three boys went for a sail

They were blown across the Tay

So the watchman says

They’re in the Dead House now

These three poor runaways

If I could do it all again

Would I do it differently?

Would I just make the same mistake?

And trust in them?

If I could do it all again

Make the Lord watch over them

Bringing them all safely back to me.

I never will escape

From underneath the waves

As we march to Forgan now

And place them in their graves.

And it seems the dark I know

Takes on a different shape

Three boys went for a sail

Three souls made their escape

If I could do it all again

Would I do it differently?

Would I just make the same mistake?

And trust in them?

If I could do it all again

Make the Lord watch over them

Bringing them all safely back to me.
